But, well, everybody likes a challenge and out of a sense of duty and commitment to serve, he took the job. His new book “At War With Ourselves: My Tour of Duty in the Trump White House” reflects on that time. In an administration brimming with drama and not a little chaos and conflict, McMaster steered clealr of the fracas to quietly address national security deficiencies that he believed needed to be addressed. Trump’s temperament alllowed some tough calls to finally get made, but made seeing them through “harder than it needed to be.” I’ll be chatting to H.
