Newhouse Professor of Health Care Policy at Harvard Medical School and a physician in the Department of Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is also a faculty research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. His vantage point at the intersection of health care and economics landed him a role as the host of the Freakonomics MD podcast and also as the author of a fascinating book “Random Acts of Medicine.” The book draws on naturally occurring experiments to look at how chance events affect medical care. For instance\, what’s the relationship between the introduction of E-Z pass tollbooths and positive impact on babies’ health who live near them?
